Concept "Snow White"

When the weather reports said up to 14" of snow, most people stocked up on food, hunkered down and grumbled on social media.
Not this photographer! I got excited, excessively excited, sleeplessly excited and began to style. We hopped in the Jeep, plowed through the snow, grabbed our model from rural MO and head to another part of rural MO to go shoot this fun Snow White concept shoot.

Since it is a concept shoot, I wanted to share my process and results from the idea. Please feel free to critique!

Storyboard 1 Warm Tones, using Jessica Drossin's Textures in the edits and in the collage building to soften the borders. I tried to aim for a storybook look and used the textures to give the page look in some cases, and in other instances to give the woods an eerier or fairytale feel.

Storyboard 2 is sharper coloration based in blacks and white. There are some storybook edits here as well. Also some adventures in the bottom row: left - ghosting, and center - painted or manifesting from nothing, maybe a little black magic.

Blissfully Deranged Makeup did the makeup, Jen (me) from Legacy Photography did the styling, hair, shoot and makeup. I'll toss a little blurb in there for Brushy Fork Pine Christmas Tree Farm too, because I raided my mother-in-law's shop for accessories.

Chase Flashback!

This is Mister Chase! We had the pleasure of taking some photos in the hospital, on his first day home. We wanted to flashback to his first photo sessions with us because soon we'll be working on something special for his FIRST birthday and more than likely a Cake Smash!

Welcome to the family Chase, try not to grow up any faster!

Loving Love

Enjoy your Valentine's Day and these love photos!

Justin & Ashley
These are from their engagement session at Cuivre River State Park and their beautiful wedding in Warrenton!

Jerry & Anna
We got creative with their engagement session and had a lot of fun at the City Museum. Their wedding was also a Legacy first as we were able to take photos inside Busch Stadium with the lovely Arch in the skyline. We also have the absolute JOY to congratulate them on their beautiful little girl born just a few days ago.

Pre-Deployment Binz Family Session

We are enormous supporter of members of our armed forces, especially when they are such awesome people like the Binz family.

We had the complete pleasure of not only enjoying the rambunctious nature of this family, but we also were asked to take the photos for a very important reason.  Dad will be deploying soon and he wanted photos to take with him and we were more than happy to help. They are very full of energy, joy and most of all love! Enjoy the collages from our trip to Quail Ridge Park.

We also participate in a monthly themed photo challenge and plan to enter one of the photos from this session this month. I had no idea what to do for this month's challenge, "The theme is LOVE, of course; specifically the love of your art. What motivates you to take pictures? ... Express your artist's heart, feel the passion..." Then, as I was scouting the park for this shoot texting Jackie photos along the way it became so obvious. The idea behind this shoot and the challenge for this family is what I'm passionate about - giving people something to hold onto, and this family is special to me too, because of all they have done for me, for our country, and for each other.
I am motivated --no, more than that-- driven to help families hold onto, their good days, fun memories, child-like adoration, special moments and each other. So, we will be entering this literal and emotional representation of our artist hearts.

Soldier's Heart
Thank you for inviting us into your family! Come home soon, Rob!

Think Love!

While I personally am not a large fan of Valentine's Day, we at Legacy are fans of love and all the wonderful photos that come with that. We do everything from engagement to gender announcement to cake smash to family sessions. We'd like to share a little love, and another Legacy couple with you.

Brandon & Amy
On the bottom is a collection of photos from their engagement session in 2012 at Cuivre River State Park. On top: we have had the joy of capturing their growing love, maternity, newborn, family and in November, their wedding!

Now is the time to think about your family, engagement or maternity session. Everything is blooming, including love, we'd like to capture some for you!

Welcome and meet some Legacy families!

Welcome to Legacy Photography Studio's newly established blog!
We're hoping to make the studio more shareable across all platforms, including Facebook and Pinterest by establishing a blog. We also hope that we can inspire you to thinking creatively about your memories so we can capture you in every session.

A few things we'd like to ask:
  1. Be considerate. We love you all and appreciate feedback both positive and negative, however, we ask that you be kind to other customers and readers on the blog. We want your thoughts to remain, but if they are obscene or abusive, we will remove them.
  1. SHARE! We know some of our clients just love us, so please feel free to share us! We're going to move away from preview albums strictly on Facebook and will start giving peeks here and sharing the entry to the studio Facebook page.
  1. Remember the copyright information. We will have our copyright embedded in all photos we share here. We ask that if you re-post, share, or pin the photos that you include the full name of the studio as the source. We are fairly unique in the freedoms we offer with the use of our photos for the price. Please continue to help us grow by giving us credit for what we've done for you.
Without further ado, we'd like to introduce you to a few families we hope to feature regularly as they grow!

Steve & Sarah
These are from their engagement session in 2012. We also captured their wedding. At a future date of their own choice, we look forward to photographing their little ones as well.

Justin & Linda
This is one of their custom designed items from their engagement session which was themed "Meet Me in St. Louis." We shot their wedding in 2011 and again, when they're ready, hope to photograph their tiny Cardinals fans!

 Chris & Courtney
We have had the joy and privilege of being a part of this family's memories since they officially became a family in 2010. We love to see the love multiply!

Welcome everyone, we hope to someday capture your legacies here as well!
